Thunderbird Lodge proudly welcomes active duty military personnel traveling on orders, attending training, relocating, visiting family, or passing through central Oklahoma.


Conveniently located just off I-35 and only 5.2 miles from the Norman Armed Forces Reserve Center, Thunderbird Lodge offers affordable accommodations, free fiber Wi-Fi, convenient parking, and daily, weekly, and extended-stay options.

The Not So Fine Print

  • Prices are subject to change without notice and are also subject to availability. All typical daily rates are based on non-event day availability. Rate is prior to the current 16.75% hotel taxes.
  • Effective July 1, 2026, the tax rate will increase to 18.75%. Reservations with a check-in date on or after July 1, 2026, will be subject to the new tax rate.
  • If paying with cash or some debit cards, there is a $200+ incidentals refundable deposit. All kitchens require a refundable deposit.
  • Credit cards are required to make a reservation. Third party payments are not accepted. Cardholder must be the guest staying in the room. The name on the card will be matched to the name on the photo ID prior to processing that payment at check-in.
  • Should early check-in (before 3 pm) be available, it is subject to an additional day's rent and taxes. 
  • The discounted weekly rates are for those who book directly with Thunderbird Lodge. Should you decide to book through an online third-party, you will be charged the daily rates made on that third-party online booking site. 
  • Q- Kitchen, Fully Equipped, Downstairs (if available), will be priced the same as a QQ-Kitchen, Fully Equipped, Downstairs.
  • Discounted weekly dog fee is for dogs under 35 lbs. Does not apply to larger breeds. 
  • Discounted weekly rates will be charged a surcharge during University of Oklahoma Football Home Gameday weekends. 
  • For an additional fee and deposit, kitchen studio units can be supplied with dining and cooking ware. 
  • Rates exclude Special Event Weekends (e.g., OU football games, graduation, and other major events).
  • ADA (handicap-accessible) rooms are available upon request, subject to availability.
  • The current hotel tax rate is 16.75%. Effective July 1, 2026, the tax rate will increase to 18.75%. Reservations with a check-in date on or after July 1, 2026, will be subject to the new tax rate.

Deposit for Incidentals (Refundable)

A refundable deposit is required for certain situations:

  • Kitchen Studio: $100-$200
  • Paying with Debit card: $100-200
  • Paying with Cash: $300, Walk-ins only (cannot make a reservation without a credit card)
  • If dog exceeds 35 lb maximum and have management approval: $ varies
