Here are answers to some common questions. 

  • What time is check-in?

    Check-in is from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Check-out is by 11:00 AM. We cannot accommodate arrivals after 9:00 PM without prior arrangements. Subject to availability. 

  • What time is check-out?

    Check-out is 11:00 AM. Guests may leave their room key inside the room for contactless checkout.

  • Where do I check-in?

    Check-in is available at the front desk, which is located on the North side of the first two-story building. Look for the canopy overhang and the orange cones.

  • Is parking included?

    Yes. Complimentary parking is available for registered guests. All vehicles must be registered through the Front Desk.

  • Are pets allowed?

    Yes, dogs only, no cats. 


    Well-behaved dogs under 35 pounds are welcome in designated dog-friendly Kitchen Studio units. A fee of $15 per dog, per night applies, with a maximum of two dogs per room. Advance notice is strongly recommended, as dog-friendly rooms are limited and dogs are permitted in only designated kitchen studio units. 

  • Do you offer smoking rooms?

    Yes. Although the majority of the property has nonsmoking units, there are Designated Smoking Kitchen Studio units available. Smoking, vaping, and similar products are prohibited in all nonsmoking rooms. Please request a smoking room when making your reservation.

  • What is the difference between a Standard Motel Unit and a Kitchen Studio?

    Standard Motel Units include a mini refrigerator, microwave, Keurig coffee maker, and other essential amenities. Kitchen Studios offer additional space plus a stove, oven, apartment-size refrigerator, and cooking area for guests who prefer to prepare their own meals.

  • Do you offer weekly or monthly stays?

    Yes. Thunderbird Lodge offers daily, weekly, and monthly accommodations, with discounted rates available for longer stays booked by calling directly to the Front Desk.

  • Is breakfast included?

    No. Breakfast is not offered. However, many local restaurants are located nearby, and Kitchen Studio units allow guests to prepare their own meals.

  • Is there a swimming pool?

    No. Thunderbird Lodge does not have a swimming pool.

  • Is there an elevator?

    No. The property has two floors and does not have an elevator. If stairs are a concern, please request a first-floor room when booking and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.

  • Is housekeeping provided daily?

    No. Daily housekeeping service is not currently offered. Rooms are stocked with amenities intended to accommodate the duration of your stay.

  • What do I need at check-in?

    A valid government-issued photo ID and a credit card in the same name are required. The cardholder must be present at check-in.

  • What payment methods do you accept?

    We accept all major credit and debit cards.

  • Do you accept third-party payments?

    For the security of our guests and to prevent unauthorized transactions, we do not accept third-party payments. The name on the credit card must match the name on the guest's valid government-issued photo ID, and the cardholder must be present at check-in.

  • What is the minimum age to check in?

    Guests must be at least 21 years old to check in. Active military personnel and first responders age 18 or older may qualify with valid identification.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

    Reservations generally require 24-hour notice for cancellation. OU football weekends, graduation weekends, and other special events require 7 days' notice. Reservations booked through third-party websites must be canceled directly through the booking provider.

  • What happens if I lose my room key?

    Because Thunderbird Lodge uses traditional brass keys that cannot be electronically deactivated, lost or unreturned keys require the guest room lock to be re-keyed. A $200 lock-change fee will apply.

  • Do you offer free Wi-Fi?

    Yes, complimentary fiber Wi-Fi is included.

  • Are cribs or rollaway beds available?

    No. Cribs and rollaway beds are not available.

  • Is there a fitness center?

    No. We focus on providing clean, affordable accommodations rather than resort-style amenities.

  • Are you close to the University of Oklahoma?

    Thunderbird Lodge is located approximately 2 miles west of the University of Oklahoma campus, making it a convenient choice for campus visits, athletic events, and graduation weekends.

  • What is the maximum room occupancy?

    Room occupancy is based on the number of beds in the room:

    • One Queen Bed : Maximum of 2 guests
    • Two Queen Beds : Maximum of 4 guests

    All guests count toward occupancy limits, including children and infants. For safety, comfort, and fire code compliance, occupancy limits cannot be exceeded under any circumstances. If your party exceeds the room's maximum occupancy, please contact us before booking so we can help you find suitable accommodations.
